Can somebody PLEASE tell me how to catch a grass carp.

There are monsters in the lake I fish, but theyre not interested in eating.
Ive heard that maize works well for them, but I fish with maize and nothing..

Is there a particular place on a lake that you fish to, or a particular something you fish with..etc..
Please help guys.

Thanks

Large beds of maiz and nutz

Fish a pop up tigernut boilie straight off the lead on a 30 - 60 cm link

Or crit ballaced tigers and a bit of cork on a 30 - 60 cm link, everything should sink really slowly.

Fish the edges of large weed beds or reeds or the bottom of drop offs that lead to the weed beds

I'll probley get slated again for this

But yes a tigernut boilie ( dynamite Monster tigernut 20mm are good )or 2 big tigers and a piece of cork on top then cut the cork off a bit at a time till everything just sinks

Also short hairs tight to the bend in the hook

Yep that was caught at the bottom of a drop off between a lilly bed and a big weed bed, over a bed of maiz and tigernuts on a tigernut pop up boilie soaked in tigernut oil, fished straight off the lead on a 60 cm hooklink

Oh the memory's that lake's been stocked with about a million 3 - 4 lb carp in the last 4 years.I spent a night in that swim 6 weeks ago and caught 2 12lb mirrors

use a zig rig when you know what layer there at.. if you can see them then pop one about 1ft under the surface and catch some carp!

[Crafty]___ Be different dont use sharp hooks.. use blunt ones! ]

Llyn Trawsfynydd in North Wales has record breaking grass carp in it, I have a photo somewhere of one found dead that had starved to death due to swallowing plastic, it weighed 45lb! There are believed to be about 300 grass carp in the lake but at 1200 acres and no night fishing they are hard to locate. The record was held many years ago by a Traws' fish if memory serves me right at 27lb. they were an accidental release from the fish farm there and due to the warm water outlet from the now closed power station they grew very fast and still live in the lake. I tried to catch one but never even saw one, though my mum once saw one under the “bailey bridge” when going for a walk. . Massive apparently. .

Take your time to get it right, you could spend year’s trying to catch that one fish, and you don't want to loose it to a blunt hook or bad knot do you?

Stuart.

The lake i fish contains about forty grass carp 16-20lb. Its nice to catch your first grass carp but they can be very hard to catch. The easiest way is floater fishing with dog biscuits at first light. A large bed of trout pellets with a single pineapple pop up works well. But you have to be right on your rods to hit the bites.
