There are about 30-35 strains of domesticated common carps in Europe. Many strains are maintained in China. There are some Indonesian carp strains, which have not been scientifically examined and identified so far.

I think that fish like Simmo's, Sutton and fishers pond are more a variation on a theme rather that a true strain

For your true stains you have to look to the Dinks and Galician.

Are simmos and fishers pond fish not the same, just the "simmos" are the faster growing of the breed?

Suttons are bred from 6 or 8 30lb mirrors which were taken from Rmc sutton ( to the anger of the syndicate), moved to a fish pond at horton and milked. The mirrors all died due to the fact that original Darenth valley carp have a gill flu that means they cant survive very well anywhere else. However the new "suttons" bred and distributed around the country dont have the flu.

I believe the very first sutton stocking was in the early 60s, with a small amount of fry and minnow size fish. I believe these were Galacian. If I have remember the fact right this would mean suttons are a strain evolved from another strain. But definitly not simmo's
