Hi mate, welcome to the forum. The DVD was sent out yesterday for you, so you'll have it by the end of the week.

A nice summer holiday trip hey??? It can be hot over there in July, so take your sun-cream and chill in the heat with a nice cold beer (oh and you'll need a fridge for the last part)!!!

Dell.

I was in swim 2 last time I was there. I struggled a bit to be honest, but the fish were there tucked right under the snag bush to the left. I just couldn't coax them out to get on the bait. I stalked a grassy from under the bushes which spooked them all in the end.
Fishing over to the main island did the best for me and thats where a lot of fish come from in swim 2. Open water also produces, but it does seem to do OK on some days, but not others.
The hut is superb to fish from. I've done several visits to Pads since 2003 and last year was the first time I'd used a hut instead of a bivvy. Talk about spacious compared to what I'm used to (1 man Armo + wrap).
I'm hoping to get over there again in 2010 as I have no other plans arranged for France this year (which is the first time in 10 years).

What bait was I using?? Obviously a crap one!!!! Joking aside, I used particle baits (maize, etc) for a few days and picked up a few Grassies, but I then changed to 20mm Dynamite Fresh (Red) Fish which I caught a few on in the past, but they just weren't moving from under the snags. My mate in swim 5 had most of his from open water spots in the back bay, so they were out havng some food, just not in my swim. He was using some right stinking fish mix, so if I was to recommend anything it would be a "fish" mix of sorts, the smellier the better.

The water levels were down when I was there so the cut through was only two feet deep and the lily's were also missing so the carp were not going to be there. I did try at night all week, hoping to get one passing through, but i didn't get a touch on that rod.

Rigs for the lilys need to be strong. 25lb coated braid or flourocarbon and size 6 strong gauge hooks (Super Strongs or Fangs are what I use in the pads as they never straighten).

No problem. If you think of anything else to ask (which most people do) I'm on here most nights having a look about.

Stalking carp?? Definitly!!! Stalking women??? Probably best left to back home as there's only Monique there most of the time!!

The fish often sit in the snags and they are catchable if you're brave (or stupid like me!!)

I can't see why not, although I'd very carefull with inflatable boats as there's lots of branches and sharp stones (gravel) around the edges which may pierce it if not used carefully.
