I'd ball it in with scolded pellet, quick and easy
build up the spot slowly and you will get away with the bait not rotting. Little and often works better, once a day to start with then ever second day with more later on |

| the carp might not get on it yet, which is why i'd do it now to get the ducks on it,but if it aint weedy yet its up to you, i wouldnt use pellet either scolded or not, vitalin n hemp is good enough, but i think you should be soon putting your boillies in. |

| im not talking bout feeding em,, im on about keeping the weed down!! as the tuftie/coots will eat it aswell as the weed, as you are in germany you possibly dont have the problem with the ducks like we do in the uk. |

We have Coots the size of Dogs
I'd still be using pellet, as there is nothing there except a trace of food so gets em ripping everything up to find whats not there, with a few boilies in amongst it they find enough to keep searching but not enough to fill em up. Plus if its a decent pellet and boilie they may be able to diguest it however the partical in these temps will have very little nutritional value for them if at all.
Not having a go just trying to exsplain my reasoning |

even with the water as cold as it is i know you can buy low oil pellets but still ave some amount of oil in them thats why i said leave it for 2 or 3 weeks before i would start but i know alot of people do start there spring campaign now or even earler mate |

I'm going to be baiting with maggots and hemp from now on, until spring anyways. Personally i think those two baits will be excepted more than others at this time of the year
Don't get me wrong i'll be adding a few boilies onto the spots more than likely chops, just can't see carp being bothered to feed on the usual round balls when the weather is like this, perhaps 'the bits' are a better approach to get the fish to drop down for a munch up, then start adding more Boilies and pellets once you've got them feeding.
