The Spomb

Weird as it sounds it actually works very well, on short flights it flopped like a fish out of water, give it a little oomph and it flys beautifully towards the target nice and straight, lands as loud as spod of course, but on retrive comes back in its butterfly shape with the wings spread so it flys across the surface, the mark 2 floats to make it even easier on the retrieve

eye witness reports suggest 200 yards a doddle with said device and the right gear, not often you can spod past your hook bait is it!

yes a thorough recommendation from me.

also now in tackle shops

Agreed! As long as you fill it with something that weighs it down a bit, casts like a dream!!

Just back from using one off a dam wall, into a really harsh headwind coming over 140 acre water. Pretty impressive, miles more fun/better than a spod.

Made casting realy easy into a heavy wind, flew like a dart, and i didn't get covered in partical. Instantly drops all the bait the moment it touches down.

I'll do it tommorrow...

these things hit the water like a brick... not very subtle at all. I wont be using mine much for fear of scaring the fish, however they do carry a load and dont drop any of it just wish they were more subtle...

Use the force...and if that dont work hit it with a hammer....

Ive heard that they are making a smaller spomb so you can use a carp rod instead of a spod rod

Yeah they are developing a smaller one, looks good imo, but only problem is, will only take a few boilies as it is tiny!

You won't hopefully be using a spomb or spod anywhere near feeding fish unless your on a commercial

Well i cant see underwater so i like to be as quiet as possible when putting feed out, a spod i can lay nicely on the surface when you hit the clip, a spomb doesnt work like that for me they also seem a little bit more stealthy on the retrieve.. However each to there own, if you want to use one use one.
Perhaps with a lot more practice i could get the same results, but i dont think so.

They do make a lot more noise upon landing. You can't lay it on the water as it hits the clip as you need it to land point on in order to open. It makes an absolute racket so I think is only really suitable for filling it in at the beginning of a session rather than topping up or little and often baiting.

However it does absolutely fly with very little effort. There is zero spod spill and is perfect for maggot and small baits like particle.

I also think many people underestimate how long it actually takes a spod to empty and I see people cranking them in still half full of bait - essentially baiting a line 40 or 50 yards towards themselves. This is completely negated with the spomb as it empties completely in seconds.

A great tool but one that needs thought before use.

I can hit the clip and mine opens!

Doesn't cause too much of a racket if you clip up. It has its uses

Very useful bit of kit. Dont understand what people are saying about it not opening when hitting the clip and laying it onto the surface, mine opens everytime!! Get it right and its makes no more noise than a spod. It may sound louder to some above water but who knows what it sounds like below water.

There was an issue with the first batch of them where the mechanism didn't work properly and sometimes never opened or opened when it wasn't meant to....I can't remember. This was sorted out though. Mine works spot on, love it. Don't think i'd ever use a spod again tbh, not for the fishing I do anyway.

Spomb's are the nut's. If it wasnt for the spomb i'd have a bait boat by now.

I use a Spomb almost exclusively now. The new Midi one that's coming looks good for use with less beefy rods. I want them to do a Maxi one too, for short range filling it in!

Been using mi spomb for a little while now and it seems pretty good to me, a couple of times it hasn't opened but it's not a worry...the splash seems a bit much at times so I've gotta get the mini version too.
