Does anyone know of any decent lakes within about an hour of birmingham center? Preferably a quiet lake with fish up to 20lb+. Also has anyone ever tried Chasewater lake?

hiya m8, there are plenty of waters within an hour of Birmingham, but not any that i would class as quiet.have you fished salford park underneath spahgetti junction, fish in there to mid 20's. then theres the Birmingham park pools, blackroot, bracebridge etc..most hold 20's. Riddings farm at Tamworth might be worth a look. very small, about 1 acre, only 8 swims.loads of 20's and 3-4 30's. you can pre-book your swim on there, but you cant do nights. as for chasewater...it is rumoured to hold some carp, but not many. never seen anyone fishing it for carp, but would expect it to perhaps hold 1 or 2 very big fish. it is mentioned in the beekay guide to carp waters,so it must have a few in there.I once saw Wayne Dunne having a look around the place so who knows ??? |

as far as i know there aren`t any carp in chasewater, plenty of pike though. There are carp in the angelsey branch canal that chasewater feeds,up to about mid 20`s. it`s run by Avenues A/C,tickets were £1.50 on the bank, don`t know about chasewater tho`. Going back to chasewater there were rumours of catfish, but i`ve never heard of any being caught. another day ticket water to try is pine pool at kingsbury, right by the m42.This is day ticket £5 i think.hope this helps. |

Hi hornet and welcome to the forum. I fished berkswell a couple of years ago. It cost me £420 I think. Beutiful place, get no idiots down there either.Very strict no publicity water otherwise it would be one of the best known lakes around. Only reason I didnt renew was cos of moving house didnt have the money. From what I've heard packington have lost a lot of there bigger fish. Cheers
p.s must have done some digging to find this post |

Hi carpking, is Stoke about an hour away from u? If its is try a place called Trentham Gardens www.trenthamgardens.co.uk. Its an 80 acre!! lake set in the grounds of some old house, but my brother in law has been talkin to some people who fish where he does and they rave about it. Not bin myself yet though. Says on the site carp to 32lb have been caught. if you do a weekend it costs £18!!!! Thats from Fri dinner till Sun night!. Can't really complain at those prices can u |
